Bob and wife, Elaine, have been members of GWRRA for 14 years and enthusiastic supporters of Chapter Y. His support of Chapter Y was evident in all his interactions with our members as well as those in many other chapters he and Elaine visited. During their five-year membership in Chapter Y, Bob served as the Roll for Dough chairman, with his wife, were chosen as Chapter Y’s Couple of the Year in 2018, a tribute and thank you for all their work for Chapter Y and GWRRA, served as our Assistant Chapter Directors, and were founding members of the present Chapter Y.
Bob was no stranger to rider safety and was very active in the Rider Education Program. Bob participated in many rider-ed courses throughout the years. Both Bob and Elaine participated in the Hi-Mileage (over 100,000+ miles) and Levels Programs attaining Level IV, Master Tour Rider. Bob assisted and participated in several rider-ed courses and practice sessions always being the first to volunteer and sign up for whatever he could. Bob had shepherded many Chapter Y group rides as Sweep.
He worked for Abington Township for 32 years as a collection system maintenance man, was a volunteer firefighter for 56 years with Edge Hill Fire Company and treasurer for 15 years, engineering officer for 1 year, and 7 years with Roslyn Fire Company. He particularly loved serving on the October Fire Prevention visits to schools to teach the children about safety. Bob and Elaine both volunteered at the senior citizens center, Generations of Indian Valley, in Souderton Pa.
We will truly miss this good friend and fellow rider.
